Stop Playing Blackout Wrong

Strategy Breakdown 2-Day Event Rank Push Playbook

Operation Blackout is one of the best gold farms in the game — if you play it right. Most players leave millions of gold and a mountain of guild vouchers on the table because they're farming it wrong. This guide shows you both the conservative play and the all-in top-3 push.

Core Principle
"This is the most loved event in Foundation for a reason. If you're not farming it properly, you're leaving millions of gold and guild vouchers on the table."
— Why It Matters
// HOW IT WORKS

The Basics

Kill small "Collector" tithes to spawn larger ones. Larger tithes give the real rewards. Two-day window, hard daily caps.

Duration
2 days

Once started, it's a race — everyone on the server hunts Collectors immediately.

Spawn Cap
15/day

You have 15 chances per day to spawn large tithes. Every spawn matters — make sure each one gets killed.

Large Tithe Range
10–200

Spawn level scales with what you've already defeated. Beat a level 200 → start spawning around level 120–200.

!
Pro tip from Blinks: Log in 5–10 minutes before the event starts and find your farming spot. If your server has reached Zarnest, the Collector tithes only appear in the surrounding systems. Go to a less populated one to avoid the seagull-on-a-chip rush.
// REWARDS

What You Get

Both Collectors and Large tithes pay out per rally, plus daily bonus rewards stack on top.

Per Rally Collector Tithes

Guaranteed rewards every kill. Bonus rewards stack up to 90 times per day on top of the guaranteed ones.

Per Rally Large Tithes

Where it really stacks up: collector orders, 100k+ gold, food, components — whether you start the rally or join it. Bonus rewards on top up to 30 times per day.

Daily Mail Discoverer Rewards

Sent to your mail when your spawned large tithe gets defeated. 15 chances per day to claim these.

Leaderboard Ranking Rewards

The real prize. Massive gold + guild vouchers for top placements. Essential now that champion weapons are a thing.

// THE TWO PLAYSTYLES

Conservative vs All-In

Decide before the event starts. Mixing them halfway through wastes AP.

Playstyle 1

Conservative · By the Book

Kill 30 large tithes per day for the bonus rewards. That's it. Don't push past the daily cap, don't chase rank.

~900 APTotal for the event

300 AP to kill enough Collectors to spawn large tithes.

600 AP on defeating them.

This is how the event was designed to be played. Not bad — just leaves the best rewards on the table.

Playstyle 2 · Blinks' Pick

All-In · Top 3 Push

Spend everything on starting and joining rallies. The bigger the better. Game stays open at your desk while you work.

All Your APStrategically rationed

Start rallies (more AP-efficient for top 20) AND join everything you can.

Aside from GvG and Dominion War Zone, this is the best place to spend AP in the entire game.

Clears the store, pushes you into top ranks, and pays out in the rewards that actually matter long-term.

// AP STRATEGY

How to Save AP for the Push

If you're going all-in, you need to start rationing AP the weeks before. You can't generate enough during the event itself.

01
GvG & Dominion War Zone, Days 1 & 5. Do everything you can to open boxes and save tribute killing for last. Then use tributes to finish opening boxes or push for the win.
02
Top 100 events. Never use AP to hit milestones. Use just enough to kill 10 tributes and 10 sacreds per day, then stop and save the rest.
03
The Monthly Value Card (optional). Gives 100 AP per day plus Gram blueprint chests, credits, and daily speed/gold chests for $10. Not required to play all-in — but helps. Blinks calls it probably the best deal in the game.
04
Plan ahead, weeks ahead. The all-in playstyle works because AP is rationed strategically across the weeks leading up to Blackout. Walking in with full AP reserves is how you push top 3 — not in-event grinding.
// RANK PUSH

How Ranking Actually Works

Every rally you start OR join gives points. The split matters.

Initiator Starting Rallies

More AP-efficient for top 20 rankings. If you're pushing rank with limited AP, prioritize being the rally initiator.

Participant Joining Rallies

If you're seriously pushing rank, do both — start as many as you can AND join everything that appears. Don't pick one or the other.

Why rank matters: The ranking rewards are easily the best part of the event. Massive gold, plus those guild vouchers the whole community needs now that champion weapons are in play.
// GUILD COORDINATION

Run It Like Arms Race

This event multiplies when the guild farms together. Set times, log in together, fill rallies instantly.

01
Set guild farm windows. Treat Blackout like Arms Race or Defend the Trade Route. Pick a time (or a couple per day) when the whole guild logs in together to farm tithes.
02
Fill rallies instantly. Coordinated guild presence means rallies fill in seconds. Tithes die quicker, everyone moves through their daily caps faster, and the whole guild progresses together.
03
This is when Blackout becomes the best gold farm in the game. Hands down. Disorganized servers leave fortunes on the table. Organized guilds clean up.
// FINAL WORD

The Two Rules

Forget the rest. If you only remember two things, make it these.

01
Save your AP. Ration in the weeks before. Blackout pays better than almost anything else — load up for it.
02
Work together. Solo Blackout is fine. Coordinated guild Blackout is broken-good. The difference is night and day.
